In this policy, “Novo Nav”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Universal Service Solutions Pty Ltd. “Personal information” means information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable.

Personal information we collect

The information we collect depends on how you interact with us and may include:

  • Identity and contact information: your name, email address, telephone number, billing address and delivery address.
  • Order and transaction information: products viewed or ordered, cart and checkout activity, order value, discounts, payment status, delivery and tracking details, returns, refunds, warranty claims and transaction history.
  • Payment information: payment method and payment confirmation. Payments are processed through Shopify and its applicable payment facilities. Novo Nav does not ordinarily receive or store your complete payment-card number.
  • Vehicle and compatibility information: vehicle make, model, year, trim, factory equipment, photographs, videos and other details you provide so we can assess compatibility or provide support.
  • Communications: emails, live-chat messages, telephone details, enquiries, feedback, support history and any files or media you send us.
  • Account and preference information: customer-account details, saved preferences, marketing choices and cookie or privacy choices.
  • Device and usage information: IP address, browser and device type, operating system, identifiers, cookie data, approximate location derived from technical data, referral source, pages and products viewed, searches, interactions, cart activity, checkout activity and purchase events.

Please do not send sensitive personal information that we have not requested. When sending vehicle photographs or videos, check that they do not unnecessarily reveal people, documents, precise location information or other private material.

How we collect information

We collect personal information:

  • directly from you when you browse, order, create an account, contact us, request support, make a return or warranty claim, or provide photographs, video or other information;
  • automatically through cookies, pixels, tags, server-side connections and similar technologies when you use our website;
  • from Shopify and the integrations described below; and
  • from payment, delivery, fraud-prevention, customer-support and other operational providers where necessary to complete a transaction or support you.

Why we collect and use information

We may collect, hold, use and disclose personal information to:

  • operate our website and online store;
  • process payments, prepare and deliver orders, send tracking information, and manage cancellations, returns, refunds and warranty claims;
  • confirm vehicle and product compatibility and provide verified customers with installation guidance and technical support;
  • communicate with you about an enquiry, account, order or support case;
  • maintain business, tax, warranty, fraud-prevention and transaction records;
  • secure our website, detect misuse or fraud, troubleshoot problems and improve our products, website and customer experience;
  • measure advertising performance, understand how visitors use our store, build advertising audiences and show or optimise advertising; and
  • comply with law, respond to lawful requests, enforce our terms and protect our customers, business and legal rights.

If you do not provide information needed for an order, compatibility assessment or support request, we may be unable to complete the order or provide the requested service.

Shopify

Our store is hosted by Shopify. Shopify provides the ecommerce platform, storefront, customer-account, checkout, payment, order and related services that allow us to operate the store. Information you enter into the store is transmitted to and processed by Shopify. Shopify may also process device, usage, transaction and customer information to provide, secure and improve its services and enabled features.

Shopify may process information outside Australia and may share information with its own service providers as described in the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy. Shopify privacy requests and available opt-outs can also be managed through the Shopify Privacy Portal.

GemPages

We use GemPages to build and publish parts of our Shopify storefront. GemPages may process store, page, device and usage information needed to render and operate those pages, and information submitted through GemPages page elements where applicable. GemPages may process information in the United States, Vietnam and other countries. For further information, see the GemPages Privacy Policy.

Google Ads through Shopify

We use the Google Ads integration provided through Shopify’s Google & YouTube channel to measure advertising performance and improve our advertising. The integration may use cookies, tags and identifiers and may send Google information about your device, browser, IP address, referral or ad interaction and activity on our store.

Measured events may include page views, product views, searches, adding an item to the cart, beginning checkout, adding payment information and completing a purchase. Purchase events may include transaction identifiers, product information and order value.

Where enhanced conversions are active, first-party details provided during a conversion—such as an email address, telephone number, name or address—may be normalised, securely hashed and sent to Google for matching with signed-in Google accounts and for conversion measurement. Google may process this information in the United States and other countries. See the Google Privacy Policy and Google advertising information.

Meta Pixel and Maximum data sharing

We use Shopify’s Facebook and Instagram by Meta integration with its Maximum customer data-sharing setting. This uses the Meta Pixel in your browser, Meta’s Conversions API for server-to-server sharing, and Meta’s current advertising technology.

The integration may share browsing and purchase activity such as page views, product views, searches, cart activity, checkout activity, payment-information events, purchases and order value. Under the Maximum setting, Shopify may also share customer information such as your name, email address, telephone number and location information so Meta can try to match your activity with a person on Facebook or Instagram.

We use this information to measure sales and advertising performance, create or refine advertising audiences, deliver relevant advertising and improve campaign targeting. Server-to-server events sent through the Conversions API are not prevented by browser-based ad blockers. Meta may process this information in the United States and other countries according to the Meta Privacy Policy.

Cookies and advertising choices

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies for store functionality, security, preferences, analytics, advertising measurement and personalisation. Some cookies are necessary for the store and checkout to work. Advertising technologies may recognise your browser or device and associate activity across different websites, apps or sessions.

You can use any privacy or cookie controls displayed on our website, change your browser settings, or adjust your Google and Meta advertising settings. Blocking cookies or scripts may affect website functionality and does not necessarily prevent server-side processing that is otherwise permitted.

Where available, you may also submit a targeted-advertising or data-sharing opt-out through our data-sharing opt-out page. We do not sell personal information for money, but our disclosures to Google and Meta for advertising may be treated as “sharing”, “sale” or targeted advertising under some privacy laws.

When we disclose personal information

We may disclose personal information:

  • to Shopify, GemPages, Google and Meta as described above;
  • to providers that help us process payments, prepare and deliver orders, communicate with customers, provide support, host data, prevent fraud, maintain security or operate our business;
  • to professional advisers, insurers, regulators, courts, law-enforcement bodies or government agencies where reasonably necessary or legally required;
  • in connection with an actual or proposed sale, merger, restructure or transfer of our business or assets; and
  • where you direct us, consent, or would reasonably expect the disclosure for the purpose for which the information was collected.

Overseas processing and disclosure

Shopify, GemPages, Google and Meta operate internationally. Your personal information may be stored or processed outside Australia, including in the United States, Vietnam and other countries in which those providers or their service providers operate. Privacy protections in those countries may differ from Australian law.

Direct marketing

Where permitted, we may use your contact details to send Novo Nav news, offers or product information. You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe facility in the message or contacting us. Opting out of marketing does not prevent necessary service messages about an order, account, return, warranty claim or support case.

Security

We take reasonable technical, organisational and physical steps to protect personal information against misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably required for the purposes described in this policy, including providing support and warranty service, maintaining transaction and business records, resolving disputes, preventing fraud and meeting legal obligations. When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it, subject to technical and legal limitations.

Access and correction

You may request access to personal information we hold about you or ask us to correct inaccurate or out-of-date information. Contact us using the details below and describe your request. We may need to verify your identity before acting. We may refuse or limit a request where permitted by law and will explain our decision where required.

Deletion and objection requests

You may ask us to delete information or object to particular processing. These rights depend on applicable law and are not absolute. We may retain information needed to complete transactions, provide warranty or support service, prevent fraud, resolve disputes or comply with legal and recordkeeping obligations.

Privacy complaints

If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, contact us with enough detail for us to investigate. We will review the complaint and respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may be entitled to complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Third-party links

Our website may contain links to websites we do not operate. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and this Privacy Policy does not apply to them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our practices, technology or legal obligations change. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. We will provide additional notice where required by law.
